We recommend obtaining maps from Rando Editions that cover the entire route in 10 maps with a scale of 1:50000. They are published by Rando Editions, Carte de Randonnees 1:50000, and should be available in all good map shops. Amazon doesn't seem to stock them (yet)!
During the walk there is a total height gain and loss of 49,000m - equivalent to climbing Mount Everest over 5 times, though not as strenuous or dangerous as the altitude is much lower!
